Notes to Self Stacy Morris 9781537251219 Books

Our very notion of humanity is interlocked with the ability to feel - empathy and passion give birth to our solidarity as humans. Through our spectrum of emotion we're united. So why is the darkness taboo when we all feel it? Why is sadness secret? This is one person removing the proverbial cat from the bag and holding it in stark light to portray the reality of it all - and hoping you find the courage to do the same, in your own way.

I am obsessed with this little black book. The cover and name attracted me for sure. But it was what was inside that captivated me. I related with her words more than I would have liked to, considering that she speaks of the relationship between her and her mother. I found myself marking page after page. It’s a book I find myself turning to often, to re-read. The art and the handwritten sayings found throughout the book were aesthetically pleasing to look at. I truly hope that Stacy is planning on releasing more soon.“They tell us when we are young
That only sticks and stones will break us
That words can’t hurt us.
They got it wrong.
Kick me in the ribs and I’d survive.
Tell me you love me
And I’d die.”

Notes to Self Stacy Morris 9781537251219 Books Reviews
A well written heartfelt journey through challenging events that were conquered with lessons learnt. Highly reccomend
Written openly and honestly about the issues that are so common amongst people in our society. Very bravely shared.
An amazing piece of literature that speaks out to an entire generation. Incredibly well written with the words just falling together on the page. Altogether an experience i'm glad I had.
This little book is so powerful and is truly a work of emphatic art. The entire book is incredibly creative in the way it discusses topics such as depression, love, hate, self-awareness, etc. It is very moving and I have truly reflected on myself, my past and emotions while reading these poems. A+ !!!
Notes To Self was a very interesting read that not only kept me reading, but also kept me recalling my own past memories of heartache and questions. Each page read not only as a personal journal, but also as a road map back to where it all began (at least that is how I interpreted it). Stacy Morris was able to do something that not most books, let alone poetry books, were able to do for me and that's keep me reading. I tend to lose focus very easily, but with this book it was different. I almost felt each word as I read it and the artwork was a beautiful accent piece to each work of poetry. Give it a read, you won't be disappointed.
This cute little book is like peering into someone’s diary, that’s basically the premise of it. The foundation as you will. Dark feelings reside here, along with heartache and loss, including secrets. I related to so much of it. Being able to relate to someone else’s thoughts and feelings makes you feel so much less like you’re alone. It makes things easier. With that being said, the title is a perfect fit for the theme. I’m so very happy I discovered this gem on instagram! Stacy is amazing and I can’t wait to see more work from her!
This collection is absolutely beautiful! The way Stacy captured the deep and raw emotions just broke my heart and I'm so glad she decided to share it with the world. Its hard knowing she had to go through all of this sadness, but I love seeing the changes and hope over the course of the collection. I think it not only worked its magic for Stacy, but it also has the power to bring people together to share in their darkness too. Thank you for allowing us feel like we're not alone. That things do get better. Stacy is an inspiration!! I truly hope she's working on another collection because I would love more!
On top of all of that I loved the cover, the illustrations, and the few poems in a handwritten font. I loved the visual variety within the pages!
